Description
Description
Researchers monitoring the compatibility between skin and cosmetics or pharmaceuticals use pH as essential marker of compatibility.
The skin mantle has an acidic pH, ranging from pH 4 to 6. The acidic pH is a deterrent toward harmful microbes, pollution, and toxins. Age, generics, sweat, and moisture can alter the pH of skin. Products are constantly created to restore the pH balance of skin and a reliable pH measurement of skin provides the scientific metrics.
The HI-99181 portable pH meter together with a HI-14143/50 combination pH electrode (when immersed in a drop of water on the skin surface), can determine the pH of the skin with high accuracy.
The HI-99181 features two button operation and is simple to use. The HI-99181 has a waterproof and compact casing, large dual-line display, and automatic pH calibration at one or two points.
Each meter is supplied complete with:

About the HI-14143/50
The HI-14143/50 offers numerous features that improve pH testing for skin measurements.
The flat tip of the probe provides optimal contact between the sample and the sensor. The HI-14143/50 features low resistance pH glass that responds quickly to the sample.
An integral part of any pH electrode is the reference junction. The reference junction is a part of the electrode that allows for the flow of ions located in the reference cell into the sample being tested. It is vital that this flow occurs in order to complete an electrical circuit, which ultimately determines the pH value. Poor contact between the junction and sample will prevent completion of the circuit, resulting in readings that are erratic or constantly drifting. The flat tip of the HI-14143/50 provides optimal surface contact between the sample and the junction. The HI--14143/50 features an open junction design which utilises a viscolene reference electrolyte that comes into direct contact with skin’s surface, providing accurate, stable readings.
Recommended calibration solution: HI-7007L pH 7.01 buffer solution, 500ml
